Prelude
A pre-match discussion on how to use Pitchero to update availability was had, however Legs and Stubs weren’t there; so was deemed redundant. With 10 players for US and So’ton bringing 496, they kindly lent two players across (both playing really well for US). Max who started up front, then right back, suddenly found himself on the bench. It should be noted, impressively this is the longest time on record that Max has sat on the bench before bringing himself on!
Chapter 1: Hockey
Now for some Hockey, some excellent play by US with one touch passing, passing around the back, good movement and early passing resulted in a pass from Southampton’s 23, back to Gumpy… Who came out of his area and somehow stopped it hitting his foot with his stick… but still let it go for a long corner. Pointless running but at least he touched it.
Although on a Hockey pitch it felt like watching Barcelona at their peak and fairly quickly Max stepped up and scored. Not long after it would have been two but ladies first strike was called so the goal was disallowed.
Chapter 2: Miles Vs the worlds grumpiest Goal Keeper (as declared by his own team)
Miles scored twice. Ask him. He’s proud. He’ll talk you through it.
Interlude
One umpire, suspiciously wanting to go to the bar, got the game under way without checking if the goal keepers were ready. This resulted in lots of sadness.
Chapter 3: The Best Bell in the House
Gumpy made a save, which kindly fell to the opposition who nicely scored. It’s a harsh but fair game. The goal of the game came from Gill, who battling her way through all off the opposition, loudly declared “Tris take note, I’m number 1”, confidently strode into the D and blasted the ball past the keeper who had no idea what happened!*

*Ok, so she bumbled in to the D, scuffed the shot, a Southampton player jumped over it, so did the keeper. Terrible goal, but no one is brave enough to tell her.
