The Summer Men lined up at Trojans on Sunday but little did they know one of their number was primed and ready to make the club news! That man was Lewis Cartmell, the reliable defender switched from making crunching flat stick tackles to crunching the ball off the back board. The Royal Navy man though took it all in his stride and strode up to the bar after the game and bought himself a pint, not a jug for his goal supplying team mates!
I collected some statements from his team mates after the game:
Tom Singleton (Captain): "I knew he had it in him, that's why I pick him".
Ed Lewis: "Pretty sure I taught him that, binjuice".
Matt Simpson: "Stop stealing my limelight, err I better do something else to get noticed".
Ben Russell: "it should've been me, wah".
Tom Miller: "Wait, WHAT, Lewis Cartmell. You're having a laugh".
Chosen at random spectator: "That's ma boy, best player on the pitch in my opinion. Handsome too" and "The photo, you're welcome".
Well done Lewis
